John Goodman II

Though a native of Southwestern Pennsylvania, Pastor John came to us from the Washington, D.C., metro area in late September 2008, and his ministerial appointment to the City of Aliquippa became effective November 1. Previously, he had studied Government at the American University and worked for the National Grange, a rural advocacy organization.

Pastor John sensed a calling to pastoral ministry at a young age in the Ohioville Free Methodist Church. That calling was later confirmed by various mentors, including his childhood pastor, Rev. J. Kendall Spear, a former pastor of the Aliquippa charge, and Rev. Doug Rabe of the Monacrest Free Methodist Church, who oversaw his official training as a ministerial candidate within the Free Methodist Church.

Besides politics, religion, and other things of a controversial nature, Pastor John considers traveling and music to be his most favorite hobbies. Foreign missions have taken him to mainland China and Cuba, and as a foreign exchange student, he studied in Hong Kong as his senior year of high school. He plays several instruments, including piano, drums, and guitar, and sings as well. During his time with us, Pastor John used these gifts as worship leader in Saturday night and Sunday morning worship services. He left in September 2009 to pursue full-time youth and music ministries at the Monongahela Free Methodist Church.

While single, for most of his time here, Pastor John resided in the parsonage with Fidel, his shepherd mix.
